Mr. Beans Holiday Review

Initial Thoughts
I first saw this movie was years ago, but didn’t think anything of it. I was young and stupid, thinking, “oh this is just good ol’ Mr Bean!” Well, I was extremely wrong!

My initial thoughts when I started watching the film this time around, were neutral. But, only 10 minutes in I realized that this was not the Mr. Bean I had grown up with.

So, what created the worst film I have seen up to this point? Let's go and see: this is Mr. Bean's Holiday.

Story: 0 out of 10

Now before I start gutting this turkey, I want to say that I realize that Mr. Bean's Holiday is a comedy, so the story and plot will score lower…

The story is terrible, not to mention that everything is clichéd, boring and surprisingly inconsistent. I couldn’t believe how much I didn’t give a crap about Bean or any other poorly-developed character in this film.

The story is very loose. What I mean by that is - it will tell one section and then have the characters just wander around and do pointless crap that has nothing to do with the plotline.

It's stupid, it's boring, and it's completely random and pointless.

Comedy: 3 out of 40

Okay, I am going to be very blunt with all of you Mr. Bean fans… In THIS movie he IS NOT FUNNY. Nothing about this movie is funny, and that is because the entire movie is standing on one joke…he’s clumsy, he does things in a different, awkward manner. In his original mini-series, that works. But in a feature-length film for one-and-a-half hours, that falls flat fast.

Every character in the film is under-developed, boring and stupid. Each one is either a stereotype or barely in the movie at all. This means that you won't give a crap about what they go through or anything they say at all (jokes or anything).

And because the whole movie stands on one joke, and a really bad one at that, you will feel very bored, very quickly.

This is really all you can say about the comedy section. For there are only so many ways you can point at something and yell "THAT’S NOT FUNNY!!!!"

Characters: 2 out of 40

Many characters outside of Mr. Bean get very little screen time at all, and the little screen time they do get is split tens of minutes apart, so any real character development that had been established is gone by the next time we see the character. And even in the scenes they are in, they seem considerably  diminished, left out, down- sized...

It is surprising how much I do not care about any of these characters. About how little impact they had on the story and comedy.

Acting Quality: 1 out of 10

It freaking sucks, that’s all… It seems like everyone either overacts, or doesn’t give a crap. It seems like they are having their cheques waved to them off-screen. Atkinson is definitely trying, and is doing exactly what he did on the show; I think that it's everyone else in the movie who is consistently dragging him down, and dragging down his entire character.

Totally and completely lazy; the acting quality is very poor, very lazily done, period.

So the final verdict for Mr Bean's Holiday is a horrific

6/100

Hall Of Shame

This movie is absolute crap; the characters are boring stereotypes, and many characters are barely in the movie at all. All logic in the film is gone, many nitpicky little plot holes that gather up into one massive sinkhole. Filled with clichés, there is virtually no story at all. And its worst crime is that it's NOT FUNNY.

Never before have I reviewed anything so lazily put together and totally useless. This movie is total and utter crap.
